Year 6 recently celebrated Ancient Greek Day and dressed up as an ancient Greek woman or Greek god/goddess.
The entire day was also themed around the ancient Greeks and what life was like for them. In the morning, the students made shields based on the power that they would have liked to have in a battle scenario. These were decorated with paints and metallic pens.
After break, everyone took part in a Greek feast where there were foods such as vine leaves, pittas, honey cookies and filo pastry triangles, which were stuffed with a delicious spinach, dill, olive oil, onion and nutmeg filling.
In the afternoon, students took part in a drama class on battle re-enactments, where they had a chance to play with their shields. Just before they went home, the whole class learnt how to write their names in Greek.
After getting over the embarrassment of having to wear their costumes on the bus everyone agreed that it was a great day!
