Journeying across France and Belgium, Year 9 students enjoyed three nights of educational travel on our annual Battlefields trip.
Students wrote poetry as a way of reflecting on their journey. Read their work below.
Lest you forget
Lay your poppies at the foot of their graves
Lest you forget
Their swept away names.
Preserve their homes, trenches too,
Lest you forget
What they laid down for you.
Read, on written walls, lives lost,
Lest you forget
The great war’s great cost.
Keep their items in display,
Lest you forget
Their day to day.
Adorn, with wreaths, a memorial,
Lest you forget,
The story of it all.
Teach your children of the war,
Lest you forget
What you saw.
And remember each their grave,
Lest you forget
The men and what they gave.
