Our Juniors visited Oxford Castle and the Pitt Rivers Museum earlier this month.
Year 5 spent the day in Oxford to enhance their learning in Science and History. They started the day with a visit to the History of Science Museum to take part in a workshop about the History of Space. They then walked to the Pitt Rivers Museum to take part in activities designed to enhance their history topic ‘Africa and Benin’.
Year 6 students took a tour around Oxford Castle and participated in two taught workshops. The session on crime and punishment involved using objects, documents and costumes to find out more about changing attitudes to crime. They also discovered how criminals have been captured and punished over the years. After lunch, students participated in the workshop: Mary Blandy on Trial – Villain or Victim? where they learnt how a court case works, before re-enacting the trial of notorious prisoner Mary Blandy.
